As a family-run business that prizes organic growth and professional development, we are looking for a hands-on Network Manager to lead our networking department. This is a "bridge" role where you will oversee two engineers while remaining deeply involved in the architecture and delivery of multi-million-pound international projects.
You won’t just be configuring hardware; you will be the architectural backbone of incredible vessels and estates. You will lead the gap between design and delivery, spending approximately 4–5 weeks a year traveling internationally to top shipyards and luxury sites to finalize, test, and hand over flawless systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Strategy: Consult on network architecture for elite, high-stakes environments.
- Deployment: Configure and commission routing, switching, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and WAN.
- Leadership: Manage and coach a team of engineers, setting the gold standard for technical quality.
- Client Interface: Act as the technical face of the company with owners’ reps, architects, and third-party contractors.
- Quality Assurance: Own the final sign-off, from fault-finding to as-built documentation.
- Certifications: CCNA is essential (CCNP or equivalent experience is highly desirable).
- Core Networking: Expert knowledge of VLANs, Trunking, STP, DHCP/DNS, and Routing (OSPF/BGP).
- Security & Wireless: High-level firewall configuration (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.) and Enterprise Wi-Fi deployment (Ekahau).
- Connectivity: Multi-WAN/SD-WAN solutions (Peplink, Celerway) and VSAT integration.
- Specialised Systems: Awareness of AV-over-IP (Multicast/IGMP) and physical layer experience (Fiber optics).
The Ideal Candidate
- Calm Under Pressure: You deliver perfection in high-expectation, luxury environments.
- Travel Ready: Excited to work internationally, typically on a Monday–Friday field basis.
- Professional: Punctual, smart, and capable of representing the brand on high-profile sites.
- Communication: Confident, client-facing interpersonal skills in English.
- Overtime: Generally 5–10%, paid at 1.5x after 8 hours.
- Travel Perks: All accommodation paid + €40 per stay subsistence allowance.
- Holidays: 20 days + Bank Holidays + additional 3-4 days for Christmas closure.
- Future Growth: Clear path to building out and scaling the department.
