Job Title: Network Infrastructure Design and Estimator Location: Hybrid - Site visits required across the UK Salary: £55,000 - £75,000
This established technology solutions provider specialises in the design and delivery of structured cabling and smart building projects across a range of sectors. With continued growth and investment in the pre-construction phase of their work, they’re looking for a Network Infrastructure Design and Estimator to join the team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of designs from concept through to delivery, and wants to play a key part in shaping smart building infrastructure projects that push industry standards.
This is a client-facing position that sits within the Field Services team, collaborating closely with the Sales and Project Delivery departments. You’ll take ownership of technical design and estimation activities while also contributing to team leadership and pre-construction engagement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing detailed and commercially viable designs for structured cabling and smart building projects
- Creating accurate bills of materials (BoMs), labour estimates, and pricing documentation
- Producing technical designs using AutoCAD, Visio, and Excel
- Ensuring compliance with standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, BICSI, etc.)
- Supporting bid responses, RFIs, and value engineering activities
- Leading a small team of estimators, designers, and CAD technicians
- Managing quality assurance and workflow planning within the Design & Estimation team
- Engaging in pre-tender design meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing technical support during project delivery and handing over clear documentation to the project team
- 5+ years’ experience designing network infrastructure and structured cabling systems
- Strong knowledge of design standards and technologies (Cat5e/6/6A, OM3/OM4/OS2, containment systems)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, and Excel
- Previous team leadership or technical mentoring experience
- Comfortable collaborating with clients, consultants, and commercial teams
- Solid understanding of commercial impacts of design and estimation work
- Familiarity with pre-construction frameworks such as NEC and JCT contracts
- Ability to produce high-quality technical and pricing documentation
- Full UK driving licence and ECS/CSCS credentials required
- Qualifications such as RCDD, CNID, or CNIDP are highly desirable
